Music Presentations for Pride in NYC!

THE GROOVE GOES ON, TRU BELIEVERS!
A queer, black, sci-fi, music-theater project, heavily inspired by the tradition of Afro-futurism in black popular music, based on common struggles with faith and sexuality experienced by queer people of color.
We are creating special music presentations for Pride! On Saturday June 29th, Bring the Beat Back is a headliner performance with Harlem Pride (between 3 - 6 pm). And On Sunday June 30th, we are bringing the music to Genre Urban Arts at the Bowery Poetry Club! (Tix are $10; Showtime at 6 PM). And we’ve got more in the works for July and beyond!
Our Pride presentations are a highlight of a very exciting year for the show. Our February workshop production at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia was a smashing success. And this September Otherworld Theatre Company is bringing a concert production run to Chicago.
Playwright Derek Lee McPhatter shares more: “I knew this was a story I was interested in personally, but I had no idea so many different people would relate to the journey, or that so many amazing artists and professionals would come together to build the music, the stage show and other experiences with me…”
THE GROOVE GOES ON! INDEED!
Somehow we’re making all this happen on modest, independent resources. And we invite you to help keep the beat going with a donation today.
Thanks in advance for your support!
